China and Ceramics

The Cullercoats mug & coaster was added to the selection of china and ceramics to complete the trio of coastal locations. The design is based on the original watercolour  "Cullercoats Lifeboat House"  and forms a 'wrap-around' image on the mug extending the picture to include the harbour beach and north pier.

The popularity of St. Mary's Island inspired this, the first version of the mug and coaster.  It is based on the watercolour "Low tide at St. Mary's" - the original of which was sold within 48 hours of completion.  The image on the mug is extended to form a wrap-around design.

"The Tyne Bridge" is still the most iconic of the bridges over the Tyne and the one with which Newcastle is irrevocably associated.  As this bridge appeared only as a background image on the 'Millennium Bridge' mug,  it was necessary to feature 'The Tyne Bridge' in its own right.

The design is based on the original watercolour "Newcastle upon Tyne", painted in 2007 and was the first of two locations by the River Tyne at Newcastle.  "The Millennium Bridge"  is depicted on both  items and the  image extends around the mug to include some of the other bridges over the river  also.

ONE MUG and FOUR complementing coasters depicting famous and beautiful castles in Northumberland were added to the collection in 2010.  The castles featured are:- Warkworth, Alnwick,

Lindisfarne and Bamburgh.  The images are merged to create a wrap around colourful design.

The four coasters are:

The Warkworth Castle coaster is taken from the original watercolour "Coquet at Warkworth" (Ref: FS) and can be seen in the "Northumbrian Castles" page of the gallery.

The original painting has been sold, but is available as a print or card.

The coaster of Alnwick Castle is part of a larger original watercolour "Alnwick Castle and the Pastures",  (Ref: GF) and painted in 2008.  It can also be viewed in its entirety in the Gallery section.

Mounted prints of the original work are available - also as a card.

"Boat moored by Lindisfarne" (Ref:DN) is the title of the original painting from which the Lindisfarne Castle coaster is taken.  The whole painting is displayed in the Gallery section.

The  original work has been sold and as there are no prints available, it is now only reproduced as a card.

The Bamburgh Castle coaster completes the set.  Taken from an original watercolour of 2006 vintage, titled "Early morning at Bamburgh"  (Ref: EE).

Now available only in card format

This design was specifically created so that a "North Shields" mug and coaster could be added to the range.  "North Shields Fish Quay" depicts a fictitious market in the real setting of the Fish Quay.  It is proving to be a very popular purchase for those arriving from abroad by ferry.

Introducing "Riverside", added to the collection as an alternative to the "Millennium Bridge" mug and coaster. The Millennium Bridge still features prominently in the design, but the Sage Gateshead and the Baltic Arts Centre are also incorporated, together with some of the older bridges over the Tyne.

The  4" boxed Mugs are made from  bone china  and the Coasters are 3½" ceramic tiles which are cork backed and can therefore be used confidently wherever you serve your coffee.  They can be bought singly or as matching sets. Buying direct, they are priced at £7.95 for the mugs and £3.50 for the coasters. (plus p & p).
